What is this all about?

Hello, my name is Thorsten and I’m happy that you stumbled upon this little website. I have many years of professional experience in designing & developing websites. The first time I went online and started exploring the internet via my own computer was in fall 2001. Only six months later, in spring 2002, I built my first website.

In the past few years I read several books about (website) design & development and made many mistakes as well. I also visit a huge amount of websites on a daily basis. I see many awesome looking and functional websites, but I also see some websites with less severe and very severe bugs.

Those bugs range from design/development related bugs to content/typography related bugs. What most of them have in common is that they are not caused by web designers/developers. Most of them are caused by the unawareness of website owners.

Not being a fan of reading books (I read a lot of technical literature, but reading is not my favorite hobby.) I thought it would be helpful to others to create a place on the internet where I list helpful tips mostly for website owners, but also for web designers/developers and other people working on the internet.

If you don’t want to read all kinds of books, but just need a list of basic tips for showing your website at its best, Dear Website Owner is the place for you.

Don’t get me wrong, there are many good books out there and this little compendium of helpful tips only scratches the surface. So if you are interested in gaining more knowledge about a specific topic, you shouldn’t hold back on buying a book.

If you have any feedback or just want to say hello, email me.
